The season of graduation is finally upon us. Whether you know someone graduating from middle school, high school or college, a must-have gift that any grad would love is definitely a mobile device. Of course, if you purchase a mobile device you may be concerned about affordable mobile plans. With some cell phone bills averaging over $100.00 per month, it can definitely put a dent in your wallet if you’re on a budget. I’m happy to report that there are many different options that are more cost effective like the  Walmart Lowest Priced Unlimited Plans

The mass chain retailer has family mobile plans where you can mix and match up to 5 lines and choose either the $39.88 per month plan with unlimited talk, text and web OR the $29.88 per month plan with unlimited talk and text. The unlimited web includes up to 2.5GB of 3G Data.

How The Walmart Family Plan Works

1. You must purchase a starter kit for your selected device from Walmart. The starter kit includes a standard or micro sim card and retails for $25.00.

2. Activate the starter kit and select your monthly plan for your newly purchased device from Walmart or bring your own.

3.  The starter kits come in Standard/Micro SIM and fit most phones. The iPhone 5 requires the Nano SIM kit.

4. Begin using your service.

When I first visited my local Walmart, I wasn’t sure what to expect about the quality of their mobile devices. I was so surprised to find out that they carried top brands like Samsung, LG, Nokia, and Apple. Each of the brands would make a great gift since I’m celebrating my little brother who is graduating High School with a FULL scholarship to college. Now my brother isn’t the least bit careful when it comes to tech devices. He’s lost about 3 cell phones and has “accidentally” damaged even more. Luckily with Walmart, smartphone prices start around $50.00. I ended up purchasing the Samsung Galaxy Exhibit which I know he’ll love!

A Few Features of the Samsung Galaxy Exhibit:

  • 5 megapixel rear-facing camera
  • VGA front-facing camera
  • microUSB
  • WiFi calling
  • MMS, SMS, Email, Instant Messaging
  • Bluetooth technology
  • Samsung Media HUB
  • Web browsing capable

One thing I loved about the Walmart Family Mobile Plan  experience is that after selecting your starter kit, you can simply go home and activate your account at your own leisure entirely online. Yes, that means no waiting around in a crowded store for an associate to reach out to you for assistance. You can also visit the Walmart mobile site to make a bill payment, transfer an existing number or find the answers to trouble shooting for your account. It was very easy for me to speak to a representative and select the $39.88 plan so that my brother can easily stay connected to his friends and family while he’s away at college on a budget.

Mobile devices under Walmart are powered by T-Mobile. So if you’re social media obsessed like myself, you get lightning speed access to your favorite sites.

Here’s what to consider if you’re thinking abut making the switch:

1.There’s nation-wide coverage under T-mobile

3. You can cancel your service at any time without any fee

4. No annual contract

5. No credit check

If you’re in the Valley Stream, NY area, you can find out more information about the Walmart #familymobile plan if you enter the electronic aisle in the back of the store or simply visit the Walmart website.

What an awesome plan for high school graduates heading off to college. Love that the monthly rates are affordable even for someone starting out on their own. #client
