Nickelodeon’s Holiday Gift Guide!

A few months ago I was invited to attend a preview of the hottest toys for the holidays from Nickelodeon. I might be showing my age, but I grew up on a lot of classic and iconic characters that are NOW becoming popular again. So what am I talking about? The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Remember the cartoon and movies based around America’s favorite turtle heroes? Well I do, and now your kids will too! Here are a few of my top picks from the viewing:

Kids can build the entire Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Sewer Lair with this Playmates play-set for hours of fun. Recommended for children ages 4+, it retails for $109.99. The lair stands 42 inches tall and has more than 20 different features like an elevator, rope swing and swing-down ladders.

Staying with the theme of our favorite turtles, Leonardo, Ralphael, Donatello and Michelangelo also have their own action figures. There’s the Flingers Deluxe Action Figure which disperses the Turtles’ favorite meal–PIZZA! It retails for $12.99! Similarly, Playmate has created the Turtle Battle Shell Figurine that comes with ninja weapons, a belt or black holster and the turtle shells also work as a storage space for the weapons! It retails for $19.99.

If you watch Nick Jr. then you should already be familiar with the uber-popular Bubble Guppies. The picture above showcases the Bubble Guppies musical collection featuring instruments like the Fintastic Guitar ($19.99) and the Rockin Microfin ($14.99). Kids can sing-along to Bubble Guppie songs and phrases by strumming the guitar or singing to underwater bubble sounds.

Also pictured is the Team Umizoomi Come and Get Us Car Counting Umi Car. Aside from being a remote control car, it also helps teach numbers sand counting. The Umizoomi is perfect for children ages 2-5 and retails for $25.99. I think it’s an absolute must-have as it aids in bettering a child’s motor and educational skills.

D-D-D-Dora! I don’t know a single child who doesn’t LOVE Dora The Explorer! Whether it’s the catchy songs or learning Spanish, Dora has something to offer children of all ages. The Skate and Spin Dora and Boots is a fun toy where Dora and Boots  skate around doing three different routines while music plays. It retails for $39.99. Also, like the toy, Nick is airing a special  Dora’s Ice Skating Spectacular  which premieres airs on November 25th!

Lastly, all kids love tech. With this Nabi Jr. tablet, kids can play and also reads and watch their favorite Nick Jr shows . Like adult tablets, the Nabi Jr. has 16 GB of storage, high resolution touch screen and a front and back camera. I love that it’s easy to grip, comes in a protective case and is filled with interactive activities. It retails for $139.99 and be purchased at Target, Best Buy and Sam’s Club.
