Car Safety with Nissan

2017 Nissan Rogue Sport

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to attend a car safety event courtesy of the Nissan Bloggin Mamas Safety Academy. I learned so many interesting tips about cars that really surprised me. For example, did you know that kids under 13 should always sit in the backseat? With the summer travel season around the corner, let’s get into some car safety tips:

  • Each car passenger should buckle their seatbelt regardless of age
  • Seatbelts can reduce the risk of injury by at least 50%
  • Kids care seats do expire (check those expiration dates!)
  • Kids are 12x distracting to the driver than talking on a cellphone
  • Car crashes are the leading cause of death for latinos 1-34
  • Check vehicles VIN for open recalls, recall repairs are free

When my son was a baby, it was pretty frustrating trying to get his car sear in the car and trying to figure out where and how to buckle all of the various seat belts. When placing a car seat in a car, the car seat should be firmly placed and locked in its proper position. Quick tip, you’ll know when the car seat is correctly inserted when there is no gapping in the rear seat belt if you pull on it. On top of learning about the latest safety features that Nissan has to offer, bloggers also got to test out the 2017 Rogue Sport, Armada and Pathfinder.

Nissan’s latest safety features include a 360 view around the car located inside the dashboard and a blindspot feature to help you avoid potential collisions.

Driving in NYC can be both an adventure and a pain. Once you include the mid-day traffic, you’re in for a nightmare. So while I wasn’t in the driver’s seat, I was comfortably seated in the Nissan Armada which felt like luxury on wheels. It was fully loaded with a moon-roof, extra seats in the back, plenty of storage space and leg room. It drove like a dream. I would definitely love to use that vehicle for long road trips with my family.

Once the test drive was over, bloggers headed inside the Water Club by the East River where we were served a delicious lunch and sweet treats.

Thanks to Nissan and Bloggin Mamas for inviting me to such a fab and informative event!
