Can you believe the summer is pretty much over and it’s time for another school year?! As a mom and educator, a new school year always symbolizes a new start–especially when it comes to beauty items. As the seasons change, there are a few rules to keep in mind to keep your skin at its best.
Rule number 1: it’s very important to check the expiration dates on your beauty items.
Rule number 2: decide what products to keep or toss.
Rule number 3:change up your makeup and/or skincare according to either the cooler or warmer temperatures.
If you’ve recently watched my Insta-stories, you saw that I threw away most of my current makeup products used to create a bright “summer look” to make room for darker, more subtle fall and winter looks. Since most of the items in my beauty bag were close to expiring or barely being used, I decided to take a trip to the showroom at Glossier in NYC.
Glossier is known for their cruel-free makeup products like lightly scented glosses, lipsticks, concealers, and powders. When you arrive at their showroom, it’s a large open space with every makeup product needed to create a soft, dewy look. Since my skin is super-oily, I only tend to put on a dab of concealer over any dark spots, eye brow gel and a bright lip color. That’s pretty much my everyday face. However, recently I’ve become more drawn to an au-naturale look. That doesn’t mean I don’t wear makeup–I just want products than can resemble a “I woke up like this look.” I definitely found what I was searching for at Glossier. I ended up choosing the “Crush” shade from their Generation G lipstick line, a “Cherry” Balm dotcom lip moisturizer and Boy Brow in Brown for my sparse, unruly eyebrows.
